Responsibilities
Crating & Packaging
- Build and assemble crates, cartons, and custom containers for shipping finished products.
- Securely pack and protect items using appropriate padding and sealing materials.
- Inspect crates and products to verify they meet shipping specifications.
Inventory & ERP Management
- Update inventory levels, track material usage, and manage receipts and shipments using an ERP system.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and cycle checks to ensure accuracy.
- Identify discrepancies in stock counts and proactively resolve any issues with the Warehouse Supervisor.
Loading & Unloading
- Operate forklifts (stand-up and sit-down) to move products, materials, or crates around the facility safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload delivery trucks, ensuring items are properly organized and accounted for.
- Verify shipping documents against actual shipments, reporting any damage or shortages.
Warehouse Organization & Maintenance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment, following 5S or similar continuous improvement practices.
- Label, tag, or mark products, crates, and bins for easy identification and retrieval.
- Perform basic maintenance checks on forklifts and other equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
Communication & Teamwork
- Collaborate with team members, drivers, and other departments (e.g., Production, Shipping/Receiving) to ensure smooth operations and on-time shipments.
- Communicate effectively regarding inventory needs, scheduling, and any operational challenges.
- Assist in training new hires on warehouse procedures, safety protocols, and crate-building techniques as needed.
Driving & Transportation (if applicable)
- Utilize a Class C driver’s license to transport items or assist with local deliveries/pickups when required.
Additional Duties
- Follow all safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Contribute to process improvements and workflow enhancements as identified by the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Perform other tasks or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred, especially in crating/packaging or shipping/receiving roles.
Technical Proficiency
- Ability to use ERP software for inventory tracking and data entry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and basic computer navigation is a plus.
Licenses & Certifications
- Current forklift certification for both stand-up and sit-down models, or willingness to obtain.
- Class C driver’s license is highly desired.
Soft Skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear coordination with team members.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also thriving in a team setting.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Regularly lift and move items up to 50 lbs., with assistance for heavier loads.
- Occasional operation of forklifts and other machinery, requiring alertness and adherence to safety protocols.
Working Conditions
- Warehouse environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and potential exposure to dust or other materials.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
- Standard working hours may include overtime or weekend shifts as business needs arise.
