Produce Manager Responsibilities:
A successful Produce Manager ensures the highest quality and presentation of fresh produce, manages product inventory as well as staff while maintaining an outstanding customer experience. The ideal candidate is organized, decisive, attentive, and possess a strong understanding of produce and customer service.

1. Oversee daily operations of the produce department ensuring the freshest and highest-quality products.
2. Manage produce inventory, monitor stock levels and place orders to maintain appropriate levels.
3. Train, schedule, and supervise produce department staff, fostering a positive work environment.
4. Provide efficient and friendly service responding to customer requests and filling orders with a focus on customer satisfaction.
5. Prepare, pack and label products.
6. Manage quality control of products by organizing, rotating, and replenishing products on sales floor.
7. Slice whole fruits and vegetables for individual purchase and party trays.
8. Receive deliveries, break down load, and verify merchandise against the invoice.
9. Ensure department pricing is accurate, monitor and control shrink to improve profitability.
10. Responsible for the cleanliness of the produce department, while also following sanitation and food safety guidelines. Clean department floors, case, tables, cooler, production equipment, product preparation area, and shelves.
11. Understand the operation and safety requirements compactor, juicer, pallet jack, pricing gun, knife, and wrapper.
12. Communicate with Store Director on problems, recommendation for change and merchandising ideas.
13. Efficiently multi-task duties throughout the day.
14. Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by Store Director.

Requirements & Availability:
  • Proven experience in produce management or related field including inventory management and ordering processes.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Weekend, evening, and holiday availability required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 lbs working in cooler/freezer storage areas including required overhead and lower shelf reaching, bending and stooping moving 50 lbs.
  • Standing work on tile or concrete for duration of shift.
  • Basic understanding of computers including Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of basic math – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
  • Excellent communication skills, outgoing personality.
  • Read, write and understand English.
  • Prior experience operating a compactor, case cutter, sanitation equipment, pallet jack, pricing gun, knife, and wrapper.
