We are currently seeking an experienced Laborer on the Aerial Crew for a 1099 contract position, plays a critical role in supporting the linemen and construction team by assisting with the preparation of job sites, handling equipment, and providing physical labor necessary for the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial utility lines. This position ensures the safe and efficient transportation of materials, the proper setup of equipment, and adherence to all safety protocols throughout the job.

Location:

  • Based in Elk Grove Village, IL.
  • Travel required for various projects.

Type:

  • Contract (1099 Position).

Compensation:

  • Competitive hourly or project-based rate, negotiable based on experience.

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and precipitation.
  • Flexibility in working hours is expected, including the possibility of evenings, weekends, and emergency repairs.
  • Physical labor is required, including lifting, digging, climbing, and operating machinery.
  • Full adherence to safety protocols is mandatory, with constant use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements:

  • Experience in construction or utility installation is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment used in aerial linework (climbing gear, bucket trucks, safety equipment, etc.).
  • Ability to safely operate heavy machinery such as aerial lifts, digger derricks, and other construction tools.
  • Physical strength and ability to lift heavy materials, climb poles, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Transport & Equipment Handling:

  • Safely transport materials and equipment to and from the job site, ensuring that tools and machinery are loaded, unloaded, and handled properly.
  • Assist in setting up and moving aerial construction equipment like bucket trucks, climbing gear, and tools for utility line installation and maintenance.

Site Preparation:

  • Prepare the job site by ensuring the area is clear of obstacles and the necessary materials and tools are readily available.
  • Assist in marking utility lines, setting up safety barriers, and positioning equipment for safe and efficient operations.
  • Prepare and maintain proper working conditions for the aerial linemen, ensuring the ground is stable and secure.

Tool & Machinery Operation:

  • Safely operate various tools and equipment used in the construction of aerial utility lines, such as hoists, aerial lifts, and digger derricks.
  • Support linemen by setting up and maintaining equipment, ensuring tools are in good working condition, and assisting in the efficient setup of aerial structures.

Job Site Maintenance & Safety:

  • Assist in the restoration of job sites by removing debris, cleaning up after work is completed, and ensuring that the site is safe and secure at all times.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and complying with OSHA regulations.
  • Participate in safety briefings and ensure adherence to safety guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries.

Collaboration & Team Support:

  • Work closely with the aerial linemen, ground crew, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and the timely completion of tasks.
  • Communicate any issues or challenges encountered on the job site to supervisors for prompt resolution.
  • Provide general labor support where needed, contributing to the overall success of the project.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the efficient completion of aerial utility projects.
  • Assist in setting up and moving aerial construction equipment like bucket trucks, climbing gear, and tools for utility line installation and maintenance.
