Supports the YMCA in its mission committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Program Director position directly oversees and develops programs and activities for youth and adults within our community. This position is directly responsible for overseeing existing programs including: youth sports, before and after school care, birthday parties, adult leagues, youth events, and/or other programs. Recruits, trains and supports assigned program staff and volunteers. Develops, organizes and implements high-quality programs.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in related field or equivalent.
- Current lifeguard certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Ability to direct and coordinate programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development of monitoring of budgets, marketing of programs, public relations and fundraising.
Essential Functions
- Plans, coordinates and supervises all programs to meet YMCA objectives.
- Expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Secures and schedules facilities. Transports and sets up equipment, purchases necessary equipment with approval of the CEO.
- Creates teams, organizes games for youth sports programs. Conducts parent orientations, training, and meetings for volunteers and staff.
- Organizes clinics, activities and events, schedules, and registrations.
- Compiles statistical program data.
- Recruits and trains program staff and volunteers.
- Facilitates communication and provides leadership amongst staff and volunteers.
- Assures compliance with all state and local regulations while ensuring safety measures are met and upheld.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
