POSITION OVERVIEW:
Do you have a passion for helping people achieve goals and learn new skills, as well as a knack for creating things with different technological mediums? In this Reception support position is a program that supports our individuals with disabilities work alongside a staff member learning how to learn the skills needed to be a receptionist. Knowledge with computers is recommended. The Vocational Direct Support Professional provides community/job support and coaching to individuals with developmental disabilities in overseeing their growth in work tasks. Support is provided in a program/work setting, and in the community. The DSP strives to assure the health and safety of persons served while also encouraging them to take reasonable risks to foster growth and independence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide compassionate care helping support individuals with disabilities live fuller lives. Working on helping them reach goals with activities of daily living, social independence, and being a part of their community. To thrive in this role, you must be passionate about helping people with disabilities and comfortable with providing personal care when needed.
-Listen attentively and take general interest in assisting people with enjoying meals, maintain personal hygiene, and learning their routines.
-Support individuals inf assisting them with making and maintaining relationships with friends, family, and their loved ones. Assisting with making phone calls, setting up get-togethers, and regular interactions.
-Assist with medical needs, including monitoring health, administering medications, and daily documentation. Strive provides training with QMAP Qualification, CPR, and Vital Signs for maintaining individuals' health and well-being.
-Assist with transporting and getting individuals out into the community, for work and recreational experiences.
-Collaborate with Co-workers and supervisor in maintaining a positive and safe program/work environment.
Site Specific Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 lbs. frequently.
· Ability to carry heavy weights (over 50 lbs.) occasionally.
· Ability to squat frequently.
· Ability to reach overhead, forward and to the side frequently.
· Ability to perform move and balance to assist with transfers occasionally.
· Must Be at least 21 for insurance purposes
· Must have a valid driver's license and be able to legally drive in the State of Colorado.
Financial Accountability: May be responsible for billing, using cash registers/clover pad, and collecting from vendors.
