The School Technology Manager is responsible for overseeing the school's IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable access to technology for students, teachers, and staff. This role includes managing hardware and software systems, supporting network operations, troubleshooting IT issues, and leading technology initiatives that enhance educational outcomes. Primary Responsibilities
Technical Support & IT Management
- Provide onsite and remote technical support to teachers, staff, and students.
- Manage and maintain IT inventory, including laptops, iPads, Chromebooks, network devices, and accessories.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems, including network hardware, access points, projectors, doc cams, and charging carts.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot A/V issues such as HDMI, projectors, document cameras, microphones, and classroom sound systems.
- Manage help desk tickets, resolve technical issues efficiently, and escalate when necessary.
Network & Systems Administration
- Support device repairs, including Chromebook and MacBook screens, keyboards, and internal components.
- Oversee printer maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Manage cloud services and user accounts, ensuring proper access control and security measures.
- Administer Google Contacts and staff directory updates across platforms.
Student & Staff Device Management
- Oversee student device distribution, tracking, and support, ensuring loaner devices are available when needed.
- Manage Chrome Carts, including inventory tracking, labeling, and functionality maintenance.
- Handle Verizon phone number management, including activations, deactivations, and device assignments.
- Perform onboarding and offboarding procedures for staff, including device setup, account provisioning, and training.
- Assist with BOY (Beginning of Year) and EOY (End of Year) tech distribution and retrieval processes.
Event & Special Project Support
- Provide technical setup and support for school events, including projectors, Promethean boards, microphones, and sound systems.
- Assist in special upgrade projects, such as school-wide laptop, phone, or software rollouts.
- Support standardized testing setup and device management (headphone distribution, Chromebook configuration, etc.).
Training & Professional Development
- Comprehensive training will be provided on school-specific IT systems, classroom technology, and support protocols.
- Ongoing professional development opportunities available to stay updated on the latest educational technology and cybersecurity best practices.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field preferred).
- 1-2 years of experience in a technical support role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Technical expertise in Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, macOS, Windows, and Chromebook management.
- Experience with printer troubleshooting, Promethean boards, and A/V equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between school locations if needed.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
- Professional appearance and ability to interact effectively with educators and students.
- CompTIA A certification preferred (or equivalent IT certifications).
