Job Summary
The position includes all aspects of installing and servicing government and commercial vehicles with quality control and customer satisfaction being the top priorities. The role is ultimately responsible for the complete installation of emergency warning products and equipment into different vehicles, including the programming and testing of installed equipment while ensuring compliance with Company policies/procedures including safety and environmental regulations.
Primary Job Duties
- Install, repair, test, and remove 12-volt law enforcement vehicle equipment, including, but not limited to light bars, flashers, sirens, video cameras, laptops, printers, consoles, transport partitions, radios, speakers, antennas, routers, and more
- Install emergency warning equipment and products according to prints, assembly drawings, process documents and other job requirement sheets
- Conduct basic programming of installed equipment, test functionality and perform troubleshooting when needed
- Remove and install body panels, bumpers, and trim of vehicles to be able to install all cages and partitions (e.g., K-9, Prisoner Transport & all others)
Knowledge, Education and Experience
Skill Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
- Job history working in a body shop, car stereo shop, custom vehicle up-fit, emergency vehicle up-fit is preferred.
- Strong 12v electrical knowledge, mechanical aptitude, strong work ethic, and a desire to learn and grow are a must.
- EVT or ASE Certifications, light fabrication skills, and knowledge of vehicle alarms are a huge plus.
- Knowledge of vehicle wiring.
- Able to identify electrical circuits.
- Experience with installation of emergency lighting desired but not required.
- Must be mechanically inclined to disassemble & reassemble mechanical parts for all types of different government & commercial vehicles.
- Ability to operate power tools and hand tools (drill, wrench, gauge, vise, etc.).
- Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and sound judgment required.
- Ability to communicate well with others.
- Ability to work on and see colored small objects.
- Use of good judgment and knowledge acquired to perform custom fabrication.
- Must be innovative and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, walking, climbing 10-12 ft ladder, bending and stretching around. under and inside vehicles, able to lay inside the trunk of vehicles for long periods of time, crawling, kneeling, awkward posturing.
- Manual dexterity is important for wiring, soldering, etc.
- Good hand and wrist flexibility, repetitive motions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently without assistance and 30 lbs. on a regular basis
Education and Work Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- At least two (2) years of experience in automotive warning equipment installation is required (e.g. experience installing emergency lighting, two-way mobile radios, GPS equipment, antennas or other electrical equipment)
- Must have a valid driver license with a clean driving history
