Job Title: Sheet Metal Operator
Purpose: The Sheet Metal Operator is responsible for planning, measuring, and manufacturing various sheet metal products and parts following quality standards and meeting customer specifications.
Responsibilities/Duties
· Interpret written documents such as blueprints, work instructions, drawings and job aids
· Measuring, marking dimensions and laying out material to be processed
· Assemble tools for the machines
· Use hand and power tools to clean/remove sharp edges from raw stock material and parts
· Use calipers, micrometers and other measuring tools
· Select the appropriate type and gauge of sheet metal to be used in projects according to specifications
· Keep accurate counts of parts being produced
· Coordinate day-to-day tasks with Manager/Supervisor
Education/Experience:
Required:
· High School Diploma or GED equivalent
· Minimum 1-year experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment
· Mechanical aptitude with strong math skills
Preferred:
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing or industrial related environment
· Minimum 1 year working with Calipers and CAD/CAM technology
· Strong knowledge of GD&T and Engineering Drawings interpretation.
· Understanding of quality system requirements (AS9100, ISO9001, etc.)
· Microsoft Office experience
Skills and Abilities:
· Strong attention to detail and ability to solve problems
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
· Strong communication skills and desire to work with other team members
· Basic shop skills, such as using hand tools
· Perform sequence operation in a timely manner.
· Multi-task and take on new projects in a fast-paced environment
· Work with minimal supervision
