Strong Start Early Care & Education seeks an experienced Child Care Director to lead our new Wilton location, set to open in August 2025. With established locations in Trumbull and Shelton, our new Wilton location will be a progressive early learning center that provides high-quality early childhood education. We are seeking a leader who will cultivate a strong culture that prioritizes children’s development while valuing and respecting teachers as educators.
About the Role:
We seek a dynamic, organized, and team-oriented leader with strong communication skills, a deep understanding of early childhood education, and a proven track record of managing a large staff. Candidates with experience in constructivist education and/or the Reggio Emilia approach are highly preferred.
Qualifications:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field
- Preferred: Master’s degree in early childhood education or a related field
- At least three college credits in early childhood program administration or educational administration (as required by CT regulations)
- Minimum five years of teaching experience
- Deep knowledge of child development and best practices in Early Childhood Education, including familiarity with the CT Early Learning and Development Standards.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Owner and Executive Director, the Director will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the daily operations of the center, including staff, curriculum, policies, and program procedures
- Hiring, training, managing, and evaluating faculty and staff, including disciplinary actions when necessary
- Foster and maintain strong, positive relationships with parents and families. Proactively address parent concerns and provide consistent communication about their child’s progress.
- Ensuring high-quality learning experiences by reviewing lesson plans, observing classroom implementation, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews
- Building relationships and networking within the early childhood education community
- Representing Strong Start at meetings and events
- Coordinating professional development for staff
- Managing licensing and accreditation compliance
