Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter to join our team.
As a Fitter in a steel fabrication shop, you'll be responsible for accurately reading blueprints, laying out and fitting metal components, and preparing them for welding or other joining methods, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications. Responsibilities:
- Blueprint Interpretation:Accurately interpret and understand engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements, dimensions, and fabrication procedures.
- Material Handling:Select, handle, and prepare metal stock (plates, beams, angles, etc.) according to specifications.
- Layout and Marking:Lay out and mark metal pieces accurately using measuring tools, templates, and other layout equipment.
- Fitting and Assembly:Position, align, and fit metal components to form complete units or sub-units, using jigs, fixtures, and hand tools.
- Tack Welding:Perform tack welding to secure parts in place for welding or other joining methods.
- Precision Work:Ensure accurate dimensions, angles, and tolerances in all fitted parts.
- Tool and Equipment Operation:Operate shop tools and equipment (e.g., brakes, rolls, shears, grinders, drill presses) safely and effectively.
- Quality Control:Inspect finished workpieces for conformance to specifications and identify any defects or deviations.
- Safety:Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communication:Effectively communicate with other shop personnel, including welders, engineers, and supervisors.
- Problem Solving:Identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the fabrication process.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 57 per week
Shift:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift

License/Certification:
- Welding Certification (Required)

Ability to Relocate:
