Stryker is hiring a Staff Chemist in Mahwah, New Jersey, supporting Joint Replacement!
Who we want:
Meticulous documenters. Detail-oriented people who enjoy maintaining meticulous documentation of reports, metrics, proposals, and presentations.
Analytical problem solvers. People who go beyond just fixing to identify root causes, evaluate optimal solutions, and recommend comprehensive upgrades to prevent future issues.
What you will do:
Support new product development and changes to medical devices currently on the market through executing analytical chemistry testing.
Manage day-to-day lab activities including coordination of preventative maintenance, calibration, purchasing, lab metrics, and sample organization activities.
Conduct analysis using GC-FID, GC-MS, ICP-MS, and TOC as well as other laboratory equipment.
Lead large departmental initiatives including setting timelines and milestones.
Evaluate test data to approve all internal testing documentation.
Maintain communications with internal customers on chemical analysis.
Partner with cross functional teams including (RA, AO, Ops) to ensure business unit project timelines are met.
Subject matter expert to local procedures, contribute to the development, maintenance and improvements of the policies and procedures to align to best practices, benchmarking against industry leads and regulatory requirements.
Lead root cause analysis, equipment trouble shooting, and out-of-specification investigations.
Lead validation activities within the lab.
Coach, mentor, and train junior scientists and other functions in area of analytical chemistry.
What you need:
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry/biochemistry or related discipline.
4 years’ related experience, i.e., medical device, pharmaceutical, or chemical industry testing lab.
Preferred:
MS in Chemistry/Biochemistry preferred
Scientific and technical writing and leadership skill
Ability and desire to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team environment.
Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP)
Demonstrated ability to manage day-to-day activities within a chemistry lab.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong formal presentation and analytical skills.
Knowledge of cGLP, cGMP, ANSI, AAMI, ISO, FDA, EPA, and USP guidelines to residual chemical analysis for medical devices.
Must possess effective communication, project management and influencing skills as well as can manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills including strong written and oral communication.
Strong in critical and analytical thinking and highly developed problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and complete projects in a matrix organization.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
