What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Manager position at STS Aerospace?
This position oversees daily operations, making sure production cycles are met from part design to fabrication. Machine shop manager also deal with raw material and equipment logistics, people resources and administrative processes. Managing the machine shop includes quoting, the allocation of work to machinists, managing priorities, maintaining equipment and managing personnel. This position also requires programming of CNC equipment to provide a quality that meets quality and drawing requirements and is machined to the most economically. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and with reasonable accommodation when necessary.
- Effectively lead and coordinate activity in a machine shop, and make sure operations are carried out efficiently and safely.
- Expert technical support for all Machine Shop personnel
- Defining manufacturing methodology with design, manufacturing and process engineers
- Continuous Improvement of the process and tooling. Mistake Proofing
- Create CNC programs
- Working with Project management on New Product Development
- Working with manufacturing and tool room
- Listen to inputs from production, management, quality, planning, purchasing and SES (black belt) personnel and use those inputs to improve the process
- Any other projects or designs requested by the Engineering or Production Manager
- Train personnel on setup and production
- Train employees in the proper use of equipment, enforce safety regulations, assign tasks, and oversee employees' work.
- Design and creation of holding fixtures for machining processes
- Order and manage raw materials and consumable tools for machine shop
- Attend meetings and participate, as required
- Knowledge and ability to set up and run CNC equipment
- Any additional duties as required
- Consistently, regularly and dependably at work and on time.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages 20-30 employees in the Machine Shop; Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
