Project Manager
Location: On-site, Full-Time – Wallingford, CT or Newton, MA
Our client, a top ENR-ranked firm, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring project success by overseeing safety, quality, scheduling, cost control, contracts, risk management, procurement, and client relations from inception to completion.
This role involves managing Design-Only, Engineer Procure Construct (EPC), Construction Management, Construction, and Program Management projects. The Project Manager may serve as an EPC Project Manager or Program Manager and will provide guidance to others in similar roles as needed. The primary objective is to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for multi-discipline engineering and construction projects, ensuring safety, quality, environmental compliance, and adherence to schedule and budget.
- Establish and coordinate project teams, ensuring effective resource allocation and utilization of staff.
- Manage all aspects of project communication internally and externally.
- Lead the Project Management team in request for proposal (RFP) development, bidding, and contract negotiations.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.
- Serve as the primary client liaison, handling project coordination, strategic planning, budgeting, subcontracting, staffing, environmental compliance, and schedule adherence.
- Oversee contract negotiations and execution of prime contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
- Conduct risk reviews and consult with the Risk Department as required.
- Manage and approve internal and external reports, ensuring accuracy in project cost forecasting and financial reporting.
- Oversee project controls, including cost tracking, scheduling, work breakdown structures, and project closeout activities.
- Monitor project progress, identifying areas of concern and providing necessary direction or course corrections to enhance project efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
- Manage contract closeout and ensure successful project handover.
- Generate new business revenue by developing and maintaining client relationships.
- Ensure compliance with company safety programs, trainings, and policies, promoting a culture of safety among team members and subcontractors.
- Represent the company at industry conferences and committees as needed.
- Provide mentorship, leadership, and guidance to less experienced team members.
- Adhere to and enforce QA/QC standards throughout project execution.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 7 years of applicable experience in project management.
- Prior experience on construction project sites or program management in industries such as aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, or water is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand environment and work overtime as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including owners, contractors, engineers, and designers.
- Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software.
