School Counselor - Full Time
Stuart Hall School - Staunton, VA
Stuart Hall School, an independent Episcopal day and boarding school serving grades 6-12, seeks a full-time School Counselor to support the social and emotional well-being of all students . The School Counselor will create a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes student success and personal growth.
Position Highlights
The School Counselor will :
- Provide individual and group counseling for social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
- Develop and implement preventative mental health programs.
- Manage crisis intervention and student mental health emergencies.
- Consult with parents / guardians and provide resources.
- Refer students and families to external support when needed.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to foster a supportive school climate.
- Support teachers in developing students' social skills and classroom strategies.
- Assist Residential Life Faculty in creating student support systems.
- Participate in weekly Student Support Team meetings.
- Advocate for student needs and inclusivity.
- Maintain confidential student records.
- Stay updated on best practices in school counseling.
- Co-teach 8th Grade Summit and / or Freshman Seminar on executive functioning and social-emotional well-being.
