What are the responsibilities and job description for the FinTech Analyst I position at StubHub?

You will be joining a team of former accountants, engineers, and analysts who work towards building scalable financial back-end products to support our global multi-currency marketplace by automating systems and creating processes, internal tooling, and reporting.
Your expertise in accounting and finance will be greatly utilized in day-to-day work and to drive development efforts on many projects. You will use SQL, SSRS, Tableau, and will contribute to the SDLC (software development life cycle), the testing of new engineering solutions, data ETL (extract, transform, load), and driving processes of our in-house FinTech solutions.
Your main stakeholder will be our Finance and Accounting team who will need your expertise on monthly reconciliations, transaction reports and analysis to support the GL Accounts, audit, and much more. You will also be working very closely with our engineers on driving automation, integrating with new payment service providers, supporting new company growth projects, and finding a needle in the haystack.
This position is a hybrid role, 2 days remote and 3 days in-office per week, situated in New York, NY

What You'll Do
- Reconcile transaction level data between various databases (e.g. Subledger to General Ledger) using an automated reconciliation tool
- Own monthly reconciliations of General Ledger accounts and investigate bugs and discrepancies
- Create adjustment journals to remediate the discrepancies by writing ad-hoc SQL queries and testing results for correctness and accuracy
- Perform technical month-end close processes to assist the accounting team with close
- Assist with FinTech test closes to UAT the feature releases
- Assist with all types of audits
- Identify gaps in FinTech’s processes and reconciliations and work towards fixing them
- Capitalize on opportunities for automation and increase self-service solutions across financial reporting and organizational tooling. Collaborate with engineering teams on the design and implement those solutions
- Develop relationships with and knowledge of different Payment Services Providers
- 2 years of experience in accounting is a must. Understand accounting fundamentals like double-entry book-keeping, processing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliations.
- Demonstrable interest in and basic knowledge of SQL. Accountant who wants to expand their automation skills
- Advance in Microsoft Excel
- Experience analyzing & reconciling high volume, multi-currency transactions. Would not blame an outstanding delta on currency conversion or a rounding error without data
- A strong work ethic and service mentality with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders in parallel
