Education and Outreach Participant
Position Summary
Gateway Arch National Park has an opportunity for an SCA individual to assist with presenting and facilitating activity-based, summer education programs at Gateway Arch National Park and partner sites in the greater St. Louis, MO area. The individual will work with interpretative rangers and education specialists who will provide them with valuable training. The participating individual will gain experience working with 5–14-year-old youths in outdoor settings to foster awareness and stewardship of park resources during five-week-long summer camp sessions in partnership with the Gateway Region YMCA and three week-long camp sessions in partnership with a local school district.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
The individual will participate in and help to facilitate team-building activities that will enhance social and leadership skills, in addition to activities related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) that will improve understanding of the environment. They will also help students learn more about and participate in the Junior Ranger program.
Marginal Duties
The long-term goals of the project include: 1) introducing individuals to education-related jobs and, for some, mentoring them in that direction; 2) allowing individuals to actively participate in developing outdoor education programs that engage children and families; 3) providing an opportunity to gain experience in partnership, outreach, and collaboration, and; 4) assist in fostering a sense of stewardship of the park and its resources.
Required Qualifications
This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.

Housing is not provided. Rental housing is the responsibility of the member.
Compensation
- $600/week Living Allowance
- $650 To/From Travel Allowance, paid once with first paycheck
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
