About the Job
The Student Conservation Association is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a conservation assistant in Alaska. As a member of our team, you will assist with the maintenance and upkeep of developed recreation sites on Mitkof Island within the Petersburg Ranger District, Tongass National Forest.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with cleaning day and overnight-use recreation sites
- Assist with cleaning recreation area toilets
- Assist with minor developed recreation special projects
Working Conditions
This position involves working outdoors in a temperate rainforest environment. Travel to recreation sites may involve boats or float planes, and hiking up to several miles a day in steep terrain and inclement weather.
Benefits
- A competitive living allowance of $450 per week
- A one-time roundtrip travel stipend of $1500
- Eligibility for an AmeriCorps award of $1956.35 (requires 450 hours)
