Position: 6 Hour Server
Supervisor: Cafeteria Manager
General Job Description: The development and implementation of school-based food services and personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates site supervisors.
- Monitors and plans breakfast and lunch menus following federal and state regulations and District policy.
- Understands and applies meal pattern, nutritional requirements, food availability, and financial constraints.
- Analyze cost analyses for breakfast, lunch and a-la-carte menus.
- Evaluates site-based food services operations for compliance with federal and state regulations, District and departmental policy and procedure.
- Evaluates staffing and work assignments against established standards and makes adjustments as necessary.
- Plans, organizes, and implements alternative site-based serving methods.
- Analyzes procedures at point of service to determine proper procedures in identification documentation and anonymity.
- Meets with site supervisors regarding questions/concerns involving food services.
- Monitors school equipment for appropriateness and proper repair inventory control.
- Recommends replacement for kitchen equipment.
- Performs routine audits of monthly reports by running check and balances to ensure accuracy.
- Monitors paid, free and reduced breakfast and lunch participation.
- Monitors food orders and food received by sites.
- Prepares and presents monthly recap statistics for each site.
- Verifies hours worked against average daily participation to tabulate meal per hour percentage.
- Assists in assigning food services substitutes when necessary.
- Reviews inventories kept on site and monitors payroll menu costing.
- Conducts annual kitchen reviews and provides reports.
- Works with Principals and school staff to establish a food service program that meets the needs of each site.
- Assists site based Food Service Supervisors in annual employee evaluations and documentation of employee issues.
- Monitors site orders for appropriate items and amounts.
- Utilizes and trains other staff on FANS computer programs.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
- Certified by the American School Food Service Association and/or the NMSFSA or be eligible within one year of employment.

- Proficient with word processing, database, spreadsheet software, and other department technology standards.
- Knowledge of State of New Mexico regulations pertaining to child nutrition.

Work Environment:
The work environment varies greatly in the place of work from working in a building alone to working in school facilities with large numbers of people. Work schedule will depend on assignment. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. Must be able to work under stressful conditions. Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine.
