The Center for Career Exploration & Development creates and produces the Career Corner podcast, streaming on Spotify and YouTube, with a team of Podcast Student Staff. We are looking for new team members to join in Fall 2025, with a variety of podcasting skills! The podcast includes interviews with students, alumni, faculty, and staff who share their success stories and provide the latest information that will help students in their career journey. The Career Center is looking for students who are engaging and energetic and who can bring new life to the podcast in the Fall of 2025.  

The format and content of the podcast will be determined by the student team, with support from the Associate Director, and in the spirit of the intended purpose of the podcast. The producer will be responsible for deciding the direction of the podcast, coordinating guests, and editing the video/audio. The host will be responsible for conducting interviews with guests, and coming up with thoughtful questions based on their experiences. The marketing and media strategist will help to promote the podcast through social media and other promotions.   

These paid positions (earning the current student employee rate of $15.50/hr.) allow students to use their creativity and communication skills to have engaging conversations related to topics of career exploration and development.  

We are looking to hire 1-3 students, depending on their skills and interest. A single student may be able to fill multiple roles.    

Host Job Description: 

  • The Host of the podcast will be working closely with the student Producer to enact the podcast production timeline. 
  • The Host will record interviews with IC alums, and current students/faculty/staff.  
  • This role will work with the Producer to develop engaging questions and themes for each episode.  
  • The Host will work alongside the director and associate director of the Career Center who will provide context and direction and will have final determination, along with other necessary stakeholders, regarding what the finished product needs to include.  
  • This student employment position will take place from August 2025, through the end of the spring 2026 semester (with the opportunity to continue into the following fall if all parties are interested) and the Host will be expected to work 2-5 hours per week. 
  • This role will be conducted in a hybrid capacity, with some in-person work required.

  • Basic understanding of podcast production workflows and timelines.

Producer Job Description: 

  • The Producer will guide the entire student team and provide direction in terms of episode themes. 
  • The Producer will contact and coordinate scheduling with guests, ensuring to answer any questions they may have, and maintaining their signed agreements. 
  • The Producer will coordinate the podcast production timeline, ensuring deadlines are met for recording, editing, and publishing episodes.
  • The Producer will be responsible for editing all audio/video recordings, deciding which content to include, and completing the final version of the episode. They are responsible for the quality of the content. 
  • Work alongside the director and associate director of the Career Center to align the podcast with organizational goals and stakeholder expectations.
  • This student employment position will take place from August 2025, through the end of the spring 2026 semester (with the opportunity to continue into the following fall if all parties are interested) and the Producer will be expected to work 2-6 hours per week. 
  • This role will be conducted in a hybrid capacity, with some in-person work required.

Required Skills: 

  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills 
  • Proficiency in audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, GarageBand, Adobe Audition, Pro Tools) and basic video editing skills.
  • Attention to detail in editing and ensuring the quality of audio and video content.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to coordinate schedules and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to guide a team and provide direction on episode themes and content.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with guests and addressing their questions or concerns.
  • Creativity in developing engaging episode themes and structuring content.
  • Technical knowledge of podcast recording equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Interest in career development.
  • Commitment to support, educate, and empower students from minority identity groups.

Marketing and Media Strategist Description:  

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to promote the podcast and increase audience engagement.
  • Create and schedule posts on relevant platforms, ensuring consistent branding and tone of voice.
  • Design and distribute promotional materials, including graphics, videos, and written content, for both digital and print platforms.
  • Monitor social media performance, track engagement metrics, and adjust strategies based on data analysis and feedback.
  • Coordinate with the Producer and Host to highlight upcoming episodes and share behind-the-scenes content that engages the audience.
  • Collaborate with the Career Center staff to align promotional efforts with organizational goals and messaging guidelines.
  • Monitor podcast metrics on both Spotify and YouTube and make suggestions based on viewership and engagement. 
  • This student employment position will take place from August 2025, through the end of the spring 2026 semester (with the opportunity to continue into the following fall if all parties are interested) and the Marketing and Media Strategist will be expected to work 2-5 hours per week.

Required Skills: 

  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills 
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube) and their best practices.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), or similar platforms.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret social media and podcast performance metrics.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with an eye for crafting engaging content.
  • Creativity in developing promotional campaigns and visuals.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent branding.
  • Basic knowledge of audience engagement strategies and how to grow a following.
  • Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in career development.
  • Commitment to support, educate, and empower students from minority identity groups.
