We hold on call contracts to provide architectural support services. This employment opportunity is seeking candidates to fill one of these contract roles.
Role Description
The contract role is for hybrid work (3 days in office in Jersey City, 2 days remote), 40 hours per week for one year, starting February 10, 2025. Under the supervision of the PANYNJ Design Standards Unit Manager and the Assistant Manager, the selected candidate (architect) will be responsible for review of architectural documents for tenant projects (TAA) and design audit, and project processing for Port Authority (PA) facilities to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and Port Authority technical standards. Specific responsibilities include: downloading the electronic TAA submissions, previewing construction documents, analyzing and reviewing drawings, calculations, life safety analysis, specifications, and reports for completeness with codes and standards; coordinating the review comments from others technical disciplines and preparing memoranda for transmitting comments to the line departments; and attending meeting with tenant Architect/Engineer of Records to discuss the review comments and resolve the issues; and communicating with PA facilities to process TAA and design audit projects.
The potential candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture
- Minimum of five (5) years of diverse experience in building codes and system design.
- Proper understanding of architectural disciplines related to building design and construction of transportation and related facilities
- Strong and effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Comfortable acting as liaison between PA Tenants & Facilities and in-house application reviewers to ensure smooth workflow
- Comprehensive computer skills, proficient in MS Suite, and ability & interest to learn various in-house and external software (Share Point, Trimble, etc.)
- Registered architect license in State of New York and/or New Jersey is preferable
Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
