We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Sustainability Manager to lead our sustainability initiatives across our organization in our Advisory Services department in our New York City office. The Assistant Sustainability Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to reduce our environmental footprint, promote sustainable practices, and achieve our sustainability goals. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of design and construction efforts, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Manage LEED and Envision scope for multiple simultaneous projects and attain the LEED or Envision project goals.
- Prepare LEED and Envision portions of proposal scope and fee; manage project budgets and schedules.
- Developing and implementing sustainable construction plans and strategies.
- Tracking and documenting project progress, including sustainability metrics.
- Coordinate with and guide project engineers, architects, project managers and specification writers during the design phase to assure all compliance paths are explored and adopted.
- Update Specifications to integrate sustainable design components, perform compliance calculations, and review multidisciplinary documentation for compliance.
- Understand independent agency sustainability programs, such as Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) Sustainable Building Guidelines and New York City Green Schools Guide (NYCGSG).
- Stay current with building codes, regulations, design standards, and industry trends to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, or a related field. A master's degree and energy systems knowledge preferred.
- Design and/or construction experience, with proven experience managing LEED and/or Envision compliance on large projects.
- Strong knowledge of design and construction standards and best practices, with the ability to interpret and apply them within an organizational context.
- Extremely proficient with leading multidisciplinary coordination across design and construction phases for both buildings and infrastructure projects.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Experience with life cycle assessments (LCAs) and/or carbon calculations preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication and organization skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Leadership experience, including the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve sustainability goals.
- Certification in sustainability (LEED or ENV SP) and experience with these certifications is required.
