What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraprofessional position at Substitute Teacher Service?
Substitute Teacher Service Inc. is now hiring an Emotional Support Paraeducator at Garden Spot High School. Day to day job duties of a Paraprofessional/Paraeducator are determined by the classroom teacher or his/her designee, as they may vary depending upon the changing needs of the classroom(s), student(s), and/or school district.
Essential duties and responsibilities of this position may vary in nature due to changes in schedule; student and/or district need, and include but are not limited to:
- Supports the classroom teacher to implement the instructional program, including working directly with students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis if required.
- Establish positive rapport with students assigned to the classroom.
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and instructed upon by certified staff.
- Assists the certified teacher in the implementation of special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on a sympathetic understanding of the students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
- Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community.
- Maintains a safe working environment to support the needs of the students.
- Must be cooperative, congenial and service-oriented.
- Provides behavior supports as needed.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility in an environment with frequent interruptions as student needs arise.
*This position includes a $.50/hour stipend for High School support.
