Job Summary:
The Patient Service Representative’s main purpose is to serve as a point of contact for patients before and after their appointments. Works closely with the clinical team to provide the best possible service and care to our patients. The Patient service representative is responsible for scheduling patient appointments and delivering medical documentation. Also responsible for the delivery of high-quality patient service in accordance with their medical treatment and proper HIPPA guidelines.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Handling patients calls in our busy call center.
Greeting patients in a friendly, professional manner during their check-in process.
· Scheduling new and established follow-up appointments, answering inquiries and providing ancillary service information to patients.
· Update and verify patient information and insurance policy at every visit.
· Assist patient with filling out patient registration forms, including patient’s medical history, consent, and privacy notice.
· Collect copay and patient balance at the time of service.
· Perform general office duties, such as document preparation, scanning, mailing, and filing.
· Receiving medical documentation and diagnostic testing from patients, or previous providers and preparing the chart for the medical provider.
· Document and maintain accurate billing information for all worker’s compensation and injury cases.
· Understand schedule template and procedure codes and be able to direct patients to the correct point of contact.
· Stocking and ordering office supplies.
· Promote and enhance company reputation by providing professional and effective assistance.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Exceptional customer service skills
· Insurance payer and eligibility knowledge
· Must type 40wpm.
· Spanish speaking a plus, but not required.
· Excellent organizational skills.
· Excellent listening skills.
· Capacity to navigate stressful situations with ease.
· Attention to detail schedule patients correctly and communicate scheduling difficulties.
· Excellent written/oral and interpersonal communication skills with a genuine concern for the patients.
· Ability to work quickly, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and improve in all aspects of the position.
Education and Experience:
· High School Diploma or equivalent; AA Preferred.
· Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, & Outlook) & EMR system.
· Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
· Previous customer service or receptionist experience in the medical field.
· Health insurance knowledge.
· Familiar with HIPPA regulations.
· Medical terminology is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
· Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
· Communicating with others to exchange information.
· Ability to bend, reach, or squat.
