What are the responsibilities and job description for the Videographer/Photographer position at SUGAR BOWL SKI RESORT?
Are you a talented photographer and videographer with a passion for skiing and snowboarding? Your dream job might be waiting for you at Sugar Bowl! We're seeking an in-house Videographer/Photographer to capture and edit stunning photos and videos at our resort.
No two days will be the same in this role. You'll work in a variety of styles and cover a broad range of subjects, both indoors and outdoors. Video projects will range from quick, 8-second Instagram reels to long-form, multi-week productions. Photography assignments will include action shots, scenic vistas, portraits, and everything in between. You'll capture the diverse essence of the resort, from intense blizzards to sunny terrain park sessions, to beginner ski lessons, to pro athletes sessioning big mountain terrain. You'll handle each project from start to finish, including production and post-production. Responsibilities include transporting, setting up, and operating equipment, as well as assisting with staging and set preparation. This role involves close collaboration with our Marketing Director and Marketing Manager to brainstorm, develop, and publish content that drives engagement and supports the Sugar Bowl brand.

- 2 years in marketing, communications, or related field.
- Ability to ski or snowboard at an advanced level, you will be in the field shooting in challenging terrain.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends or holidays for events or key resort dates.
- The dynamic nature of the resort requires collaboration in-person to best promote it. However, we also value work-life balance and offer the flexibility to work remotely on occasion when needed
- Deep understanding of what good skiing or snowboarding form looks like

- Ability to work weekends and early morning hours
- Ability to ski/snowboard at an advanced level
- Experience with MS Office Suite, Mac and Adobe Suite
- Deep level of understanding with Adobe Premiere, Lightroom and Photoshop
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Videography or Photography preferred
- Previous resort and/or marketing office experience preferred
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and be in good physical condition
What you will do
- Frequent on-mountain photo & video shoots, sometimes working in extreme weather conditions
- Transport, set up, and operate various production equipment including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props, and microphones for location and studio production
- Operate and maintain proper levels and calibration of cameras, audio and video recorders, and other production equipment
- Support the team throughout the production process, which may include finding interview subjects, creating graphics, and presenting to executive team and other constituents
- Assist in developing interview questions and storyboards
- Coordinate photo/video shoots including assisting with model outreach/selection and coordinating with mountain operations for on-mountain needs
- Establish relationships with Sugar Bowl athletes and photographers for gathering imagery and coordinating shoots
- Well-versed in platform-specific best practices and able to create tailored content for optimal performance across various channels. This includes vertical videos for Instagram Reels and horizontal long-form videos for YouTube.
- Social Media posts and updates on all Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge social platforms
- Upload and organize all media in the marketing library so that content is easily accessible.
- Collect and organize b-roll footage for media use
- Handle guest issues in a courteous and helpful manner
- Communicate information internally throughout the department and the resort
- Maintain a great working relationship with other departments
