Classification: Part-Time/Non-Exempt (Seasonal)

 

Summary/Objective:

The Sugar Land Space Cowboys Promotions & Marketing associate is intended for individuals with a strong desire to gain real-world work experience, as well as a desire to work hard and give their best. Learning potential is endless in these positions and associates get as much out of the experience as what they put into it. This associate position is primarily intended as an educational experience. The primary role of this position is ballpark promotions and community relations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Promotions

  • Assist with the development and execution of promotional theme nights.
  • Research projects and gather information for initiatives, programs and theme nights.
  • Assist with Space Squad (promotions team) game day duties as needed.
  • Shadow and learn mascot duties, with potential to fill in for performer roles
  • Learn and assist with management of Share 2 Care raffle.

Community Relations

  • Work with Community team on executing outreach and appearances.
  • Provide constructive and creative input on community-related events, programs and projects.
  • Assist in grass roots marketing efforts.
  • Assist in tracking and filling of donation requests.
  • Shadow and learn duties of team mascot and act as assistant when needed.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive community calendar of events.

General Marketing

  • Assist in creating unique posts for social media for team and mascot accounts.
  • Collaborate on the creation of engaging TikToks.
  • Assist in gathering pertinent data to help marketing efforts excel.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Education and/or Experience & Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • In pursuit or recent completion of a bachelor’s degree in related fields is preferred.
  • High level of professionalism with ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  • High attention to detail and deadline orientation.
  • Highly motivated with strong work ethic.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Capable of following job guidelines and supervisors' instructions.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of the game of baseball.
  • Familiarity with the Astros organization.
  • Previous mascot experience, preferred.
  • Some experience posting to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram channels, preferred.
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism with ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Superior attention to detail and deadline orientation.
  • Ability to work efficiently.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position, and hours of work on non-game days are typically 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Due to the nature of this position, the position requires hours of work and days that include frequent nights, weekends, and holidays. Weekend hours and holidays will be required for grass roots marketing initiatives and game days.

 

Travel:

No travel is expected for this position.
