What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Specialist & Payable Assistant position at Sumitomo Electric Semiconductor Materials, Inc.?

- Use current inventory levels, historical data and projections from corresponding departments, identify items and purchase in quantities in accordance with proper stock rotation, in cost effective quantities and department needs.
- Negotiate cost and service levels with vendors.
- Place order requests for raw materials and items needed throughout the facility, including non-inventoried items.
- Create and submit purchase orders for all approved order requests including drop shipments; maintaining accurate records of quotes and purchase orders.
- Manage ongoing orders, working with vendors as needed to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner.
- Create and maintain item files.
- Create and maintain vendor files.
- Monitor and document vendor performance.
- Be the primary point of contact; maintaining vendor superior relations.
- Monitoring all incoming purchases to ensure information is accurate and items are delivered.
- Keep records of imports. Where information is inaccurate, contact the shipping companies to have corrections made.
- File freight claims.
- Update purchase orders to reflect changes in arrival and items received.
- Verify, put away and electronically receive all inventory and non-inventoried items.
- Cycle count and record usage of all inventory.
- Assist with audits as necessary, preparing documentation, updating procedures, generating reports, and maintaining accurate records.
- Process payables invoices for submission and payment.
- Reconcile payables accounts.
- Assist with various projects and administrative tasks as needed.
- Assist and maintain records regarding compliance with all regulatory rules and requirements.
- Frequently work with other departments both internal and international.
- On call for support as needed.
- Follow company policies, procedures and safety rules must be followed and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Responsible for keeping the work area clean.
- Employees must maintain regular and satisfactory attendance
- Suggest improvements that will increase yields or reduce operating costs
- Works with Quality Assurance personnel to assist in ISOS9000/140001 audits
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree or higher in business preferred
- 2 Years purchasing experience (manufacturing/ production environment experience preferred)
- Accounting experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to work with a diverse work force
- Ability to communicate across multiple departments
- A strong attention to detail and analytics
- Self-initiative person with a desire to learn, grow and evolve your role and its effectiveness
- Ability to work in a multitasking environment and to adjust to rapidly shifting priorities
- Strong computer knowledge especially with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

- Ability to manage physical lifting of multiple items up to 20 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to push, pull, and carry up to 20 lbs. occasionally
- Sitting and walking frequently
- Standing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling and crouching occasionally
- Production and inventory environments can be loud with multiple piece of machinery running at the same time
- Majority of work is done in an office environment
- Use of factory provided uniforms and special factory shoes are required when in production space
- On the rare occasion work will need to be completed in a clean room. It is required that anyone in a clean room must wear a company provided full Class 10 Cleanroom outfits, inclusive of snoods, masks, bunny suits, boots and gloves
- Must be flexible with scheduling. Although this is generally a set, week day schedule, there will be business demands that fall outside of normal working hours that require an understanding of schedule adjustment to complete tasks as expected.
