Summary:
Demonstrates expertise in clinical social work, working as a member of an inter-disciplinary team comprised of providers, nurses and social worker. Occasionally plans educational offerings and ensures continuing education requirements are met. Applies specialized knowledge of the LGBTQ community and behavior and social, economic, and cultural systems in directly assisting patients and families to improve or restore their capacity for social functioning including counseling and use of psychosocial interventions and social psychotherapy. Performs diagnostic assessment, gender affirming surgery evaluations, psychotherapy.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Master’s Degree in Social Work or Related Field
b. Current Ohio LISW License
2. Experience & Training Preferred:
a. One (1) year of clinical social work experience
b. One (1) year clinical experience with the LGBTQ population, preferred
c. EMR experience
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Ability to complete the Gender Affirmative and Supportive Surgery Evaluation Tool (Gender ASSET) within 1 month of employment
b. Possesses sound knowledge of community resources/agencies that serve the LGBTQ population
c. Ability to work well in team environment by supporting team goals and encouraging other team members while being self-directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure.
d. Ability to take the initiative to contribute beyond the scope of formal duties (i.e., suggesting innovative ideas and providing feedback on a team’s direction.)
e. Ability to effectively interact with diverse populations of patients/customers from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds and an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
f. Ability to communicate verbally and through documentation while maintaining patient confidentiality.
g. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations; ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
h. Ability to maintain objectivity in regard to patients/family unit, the department, hospital and community.
i. Demonstrated competency in conducting diagnostic assessment, and ongoing therapy with the young adult and adult outpatient population.
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
