Description:
This position supports the planning, coordination, and execution of weekly Friday family field trips for elementary school students and their families during the summer. These field trips will occur on 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, 8/01, and 8/08. The Field Trip Assistant will work collaboratively with the Coordinator to ensure fun and engaging experiences for families during the field trip. They will provide on-site support, aiding in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants and assisting in facilitating learning experiences during each trip. Responsibilities include assisting with logistical details, supervising small groups of students, providing support and guidance to families, and helping to foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes learning and community engagement.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Attend all 5 field trips
- Assist in gathering and distributing supplies
- Help with check-in and check-out
- Assist families and children as needed
- Support the safety and well-being of all attendees
- Maintain confidentiality
- Provide on-site instruction and guidance to students and families during field trips.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during field trips.
- Manage attendee count, and maintain accurate attendance records
- Communicate effectively with parents and families regarding field trip details and expectations.
- Provide information and resources to families to enhance their field trip experience.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
Qualifications
- Prior experience as an instructional assistant preferred
- Multilingual applicants preferred
- CPR/First Aid Required
- Ability to be outside and walk long distances as needed for field trips
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to equitable and inclusive practices for all families

Terms of Employment
July - August
- Attend all field trips 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, 8/01, 8/08 - be prepared to be there ahead of time and spend time afterward clearing up
- There may be the option of additional hours to help prepare for field trips
Rate of Pay: $20 per hour
