Description:
The Summer School 4-5 Teacher will provide engaging and effective instruction to students in the fourth or fifth grade during the summer program at Gardiner Middle School. Responsibilities include building quick relationships with students, utilizing district-approved curriculum and resources to accelerate student learning, collaborating on enrichment activities, supporting student supervision and attendance, and communicating with families. The teacher will contribute to a safe and equitable learning environment and participate in professional development prior to the program's start.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Build relationships with students and establish a safe and positive classroom environment
- Provide clear and effective grade level instruction, differentiating for student learning needs
- Monitor student learning and conduct summer school assessments as outlined
- Follow summer school instructional scope and sequence, utilizing approved resources to meet learner needs
- Collaborate to create and implement hands-on interactive enrichment activities
- Maintain student attendance records
- Communicate with families and staff
Qualifications
- Three years of teaching experience preferred
- Oregon Certified Teacher License
- Multilingual applicants preferred
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of instructional best practices as they relate to summer programming
- Commitment to equitable and inclusive practices for all students

Terms of Employment
June - August
- Professional development and room set up week of June 23rd
- Summer school calendar June 30th - August 7th (summer school hours Monday - Thursday 7:30am-3:30pm)
- Classroom clean up August 8th
Ten (10) positions are available.
Rate of pay: $250.00 per day
