SUMMARY / PURPOSE
The GED Instructor plays a crucial role in guiding adult learners to successfully achieve their GED certification. This position is responsible for instruction and curriculum development, including the creation of engaging lesson plans. This position will specialize in teaching Math and Science but will assist in teaching other subjects in the GED department when necessary. The Instructor will also focus on student support and engagement, providing individualized assistance and fostering retention. Additionally, they will manage key administrative responsibilities, such as tracking progress and maintaining accurate records. The role also encompasses classroom and virtual management, ensuring an inclusive and effective learning environment in both in-person and online settings. Instruction & Curriculum Development
- Teach and Facilitate Learning : Deliver interactive, engaging instruction to adult learners in both classroom and virtual settings. Tailor your teaching to accommodate diverse learning styles and academic levels, ensuring that all students have the tools they need to succeed.
- Lesson Planning : Develop comprehensive lesson plans in line with GED standards, focusing on core subjects like math, science, social studies and language arts. - Best Practices & Innovation : Implement evidence-based teaching strategies and stay updated on educational technologies that promote student engagement and retention. Adapt your teaching approach to address the specific needs of the adult education environment.
- Customized Study Plans : Work closely with students to create individualized study plans based on their specific academic challenges and goals. Use assessments to identify areas for improvement and provide additional support or resources to ensure their success.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office and classroom environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as, computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The work environment may include remote work-from-home opportunities in a virtual classroom environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires the individual to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time while instructing or doing desk work. The person in this position will frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculators, copy machines, and printers. The person in this position constantly communicates with students while teaching, and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a part-time, non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in any one work week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 4 : 00 p.m. to 9 : 00 p.m., and Saturday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 1 : 00 p.m. This position requires evening and weekend work.

This position requires limited travel.
