What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caring Ministry Director position at Summit Church?
Overview
The Caring Ministry Director plays a pivotal role in leading and implementing a system of care services provided to individuals and families within our organization and community. This position is responsible for ensuring that high-quality care is delivered with compassion and professionalism. The ideal candidate will have the ability to recruit, train, and empower a large number of volunteers to provide the care needed on a week-by-week basis, along with a commitment to supporting individuals through their most challenging times. The Caring Ministry Director will also engage in building relationships and community with the members and guests at Summit Church through their regular presence and participation at our four weekend worship services (Saturdays at 5:30 pm & Sundays at 9:00, 10:30 & 11:55 am).
Duties
- Attend church events & worship services to become familiar with & build relationships with the congregation.
- Work with the various Caring Ministries Teams & Leaders to develop & coordinate ministries which connect & care for people inside & outside the church.
- Recruit, train, & resource leaders for various caring ministries in the church.
- Foster a culture of growth within the Caring Ministry Team & provide opportunities for spiritual & leadership development.
- Promote & publicize Caring Ministry Volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
- Assist & provide support in starting new caring ministries when needed.
- Provide caring support to the dying & their families, helping to plan memorials & funerals as needed.
- Is often the first point of contact at weekend worship services & throughout the week to provide crisis intervention for those who are struggling.
- Have a plan in place to provide Communion to shut-ins during Lent & Advent seasons.
- Provide support for "Blue Christmas" services as needed.
- Develop & oversee yearly budget for caring ministries & ensure leaders for each ministry area have what they need throughout the year.
- Coordinate on call availability for emergencies.
- Duties may include weddings/funerals/serving communion/etc.
Qualifications
- A heart for God & a passion to equip, train, & empower others to lead in Caring Ministry.
- Ability to build relationships & community within the church body.
- Strong organizational, verbal, & written skills & attention to detail.
- Ability to recruit & develop people in order that they might engage in ministry within the context of the various Caring Ministry Teams.
- Work cooperatively with others to meet group & organizational goals.
- Lifelong learner who will attend continuing education events.
- Must complete Safe Gatherings Training, background check, & psychological profile testing.
