Job Summary:
Summit Construction and Development is seeking an experienced and motivated Construction General Manager to oversee our construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of civil construction projects, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize project performance, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Lead teams to execute grading, clearing, demolition, underground utilities, concrete, and asphalt paving projects with precision and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, safety standards, and sustainability initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with public sector clients, contractors, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and successful project outcomes.
- Analyze project performance metrics and implement continuous improvement measures.
- Negotiate contracts, manage change orders, and resolve disputes effectively.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA or Master’s in Construction Management) are advantageous.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction management or a similar leadership role, with a focus on civil construction.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale public sector construction projects.
- Extensive experience in budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Buildertrend, Trello, or similar tools).
- Deep knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations specific to civil construction.
- Expertise in cost estimation and project scheduling techniques.
Leadership and Management Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities to motivate and direct project teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills, especially in high-pressure situations.
Certifications (Preferred or Required):
- OSHA safety certification.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential.
Other Requirements:
- Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal building codes and safety regulations.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
