Description
This proactive, customer-oriented team member serves as integral support to departmental needs. The position performs data entry and clerical duties that affect assessor staff, various county departments, as well as the public. Responsibilities can vary depending on the assessment calendar; and include assisting and answering taxpayer questions, property research, mail processing and distribution, process parcel splits and combines, new subdivision creation, property conveyances and process documents from the recordings of the Clerk and Recorder, assist in processing map and situs address changes, scanning of archival documents, assist in the processing of Personal Property Declaration schedules, researching of ownership issues and discrepancies, processing abatements and working with the Treasurer’s Office to ensure abatement accuracy.
Typical Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position is a customer service star that is thorough and has a desire to learn and be challenged. Knowledge and skills needed to be successful in this position are:
- High School Graduate or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two years general clerical experience, working in an office environment, and a good knowledge of standard office procedures required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, internet, general computer knowledge.
- Problem-solving skills or initiative in learning how to solve problems.
- Thoroughness, attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to understand and follow process.
- Ability to communicate effectively with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to write professionally, possess pleasant phone manners and the ability to deal with the public effectively.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment; provide a high level of customer service; exhibit patience and composure in difficult situations; display self-motivation and initiative; desire to learn; demonstrate knowledge of and utilization of appropriate resources.
- Title research experience or general knowledge of real estate (legal descriptions, conveyance requirements, mapping) desired but not required.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
