Summit County is looking for a Construction and Demolition (C&D) Specialist to lead the charge in managing and optimizing our C&D debris recycling and disposal programs. If you have a keen eye for efficiency, a knack for problem-solving, and a drive to create a cleaner, greener future, we want you on our team! This position plays a critical role in advancing the County’s sustainability goals by ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Building and Community Development Departments to track waste diversion efforts, develop best practices, and improve recycling programs.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Waste Diversion & Recycling: Develop, implement, and improve C&D waste reduction programs to increase recycling and diversion rates in alignment with Summit County’s sustainability goals.Regulatory Compliance & Permitting: Collaborate with the Building and Community Development Departments to approve C&D waste diversion plans, ensure compliance with reporting requirements, and verify final permit approvals.Data Management & Reporting: Maintain databases to track C&D waste, analyze trends, and assign tiered pricing structures. Prepare reports on waste volumes, recycling rates, and cost analysis.Site Operations & Safety: Oversee waste sorting, separation, and disposal processes. Implement safety procedures for proper debris handling and hazardous materials management.Cost & Efficiency Management: Monitor waste disposal expenses and identify opportunities for process optimization and cost savings.Industry Best Practices: Stay updated on C&D waste management innovations, end-use markets for recycled materials, and industry trends. Develop new strategies to enhance waste diversion programs.
