Job Summary
The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the project management team in planning, execution, and closing of construction projects. This role involves coordinating resources, managing documentation, and communicating with various stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and possess excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Scheduling:
· Coordinate turnover meetings with pre-construction and project management teams
· Monitor project timelines and deliverables to ensure adherence to schedules
· Update job trackers
· Assist in conducting pre-construction site visits to inspect work and verify quality and safety standards are met
· Assist pre-construction team with startup paperwork as necessary
· Support the acquisition of necessary permits and approvals to ensure projects comply with all legal and regulatory requirements
Project Execution and Resource Coordination:
· Support acquisition of RFI’s and Submittals
· Support corrective actions to project budgets either via change orders or internal re-distribution of project budgets
· Support scheduling and management of on-site rental tools and equipment
· Track project and manage project resources, including personnel and materials
· Schedule go-backs as required for project completion
Documentation Management and Reporting:
· Maintain comprehensive pre-construction project documentation and permits
· Ensure all project documentation is organized and accessible for team members
· Ensure all project closeout documentation is finalized and archived properly
· Upload original plans and updates to project management software as necessary
· Secure and compile electric turnover documents; ensuring all documentation requested is received from subcontractors/suppliers for each ongoing project assigned; compiling electronic close-out documents and preparing turnover packages
Communication and Collaboration:
· Work collaboratively and build effective relationships with subcontractor team, site operations team, project management team, and some directly managed vendors
· Facilitate clear and effective communication among all project participants
· Maintain professionalism and respect to clients under all circumstances
· Continuously support organizational process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
· 3 years of experience in commercial construction role
· High school diploma or GED is required
· Experience with retail commercial construction projects is preferred
· Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and regulations.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
· Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Physical and Travel Demands
· Ability to visit construction sites, which may involve exposure to weather conditions and the need to wear personal protective equipment
Working Conditions
· Primarily office-based with visits to project sites across 26 state footprint
· Occasional travel may be required for client/vendor meetings and site visits
