What are the responsibilities and job description for the National Account Manager position at SUMMIT LOGISTICS GROUP?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The National Account Manager is primarily responsible for managing the national accounts assigned to them. It requires the oversight of all the domestic freight shipments for all accounts assigned to this manager. This role focuses on all day-to-day facilitation of assigned accounts. May require reporting, monitoring, portal involvement and improving the facilitation of shipments with carriers to provide cost-effective and timely solutions for our customers. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the full cycle of freight brokerage operations, including negotiating rates with carriers and coordinating shipments with the accounts assigned.
- Manage all Logistics Coordinators assigned by the operations manager for full load booking training in guideline with Summit SOP’s. Work hand and hand with Operations manager to create guidelines and protocols as needed.
- Work with Operations Manager to ensure full communication on customers loads are understood we are servicing your national accounts to the best of your ability.
- Manage all after-hours calls, EFS, Lumpers and Detention that your accounts require.
- Develop and maintain relationships with carriers and customers to ensure high levels of service and customer satisfaction. Assist with any escalated carrier issues as needed.
- Work with Claims and Compliance department on specific load issues and communication as needed.
- Provide timely and accurate communication to customers and carriers regarding shipment status, delays, and issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all load transactions and activities within Turvo.
- Provide load activity reports for Operations Manager as requested.
- Monitor assigned Tasks for Operations team in Turvo to ensure completion in a timely manner.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years’ experience specifically with domestic freight brokerage.
- Demonstrated excellent leadership skills to encourage and guide co-workers relative to brokerage work.
- Excellent skills for communicating and relating with both team members and customers.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and transportation management software.
