Landscape Maintenance Technician
Job Summary
Responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding a business or building. Plants flowers, mows, pulls weeds, repairs structures, and maintains outside of building.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain, install, and repair hardscapes, irrigation, plants, trees, sod, shrubs, and landscaping at multiple facilities.
- Cut and trim all lawn areas using a variety of tools and equipment such as riding mowers, push mowers, weed eaters, edgers, etc.
- Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes.
- Apply pesticide to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, ticks, and others.
- Apply fertilizer to ground to enhance growth.
- Shovel snow from walkways and sprinkle ice down to keep people from falling.
- Sweep or use gas powered blowers to rid walkways of debris.
- Cut down tree limbs that are posing a danger.
- Trim shrubs and pull weeds.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in groundskeeping.
- Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed.
- Install rock, cement, lighting, water, and furniture.
- Water plants and grass as needed and apply fertilizer.
- Gather and remove litter while inspecting grounds to ensure safe conditions, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Coordinate and work with grounds team during weather related emergencies.
Requirements
· Prior experience in landscaping/grounds maintenance;
· Must work indoors/outdoors year-round;
· Able to work flexible hours including early morning shifts.
· Subject to on-call in the event of inclement weather, or as needed.
· Exposure to direct sunlight, rain and humidity while working outside for extended periods of time.
· Must be able to work in all types of weather including extreme heat and extreme cold.
· Ability to drive work vehicles to and from job sites and to suppliers as needed.
· Ability to load and unload landscaping tools into/from work vehicles for safe transportation.
· Exposure to operation of noisy equipment such as blowers, chain saws, weed eaters and other power tools;
· Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials;
· Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching;
· Must adhere to all health and safety policies;
· Driver’s license required;
· High school diploma or GED preferred;
· Bilingual English/Spanish
