Overview

Job Title: Sr. Ready Mix Quality Control Technician Location: Houston, TX

Reports to: Quality Control Manager

Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 based on experience

The Sr. Ready-Mix QA/QC Technician is responsible for conducting quality control tests on ready-mix concrete to ensure it meets industry standards and project specifications. The role involves sampling, testing, and analyzing materials, as well as documenting and reporting findings. The technician works closely with production teams to ensure that products are consistent and meet customer requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support a culture that promotes safety as top priority while ensuring compliance with all federal , state and company regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Collect concrete samples according to industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI).
  • Field and plant testing of fresh Ready-Mix concrete, including but not limited to slump testing, unit weights, air testing, flexural beams, and compressive cylinders.
  • Conduct compressive strength tests on hardened concrete samples.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results, production data, and other quality control activities.
  • Enter testing data into our quality control software. This includes basic material record keeping.
  • Interpret testing results and effectively communicate results.
  • Report findings to QC Manager to ensure mix specifications are met. Assist in troubleshooting and corrective actions .
  • Travel to sites and plants to complete testing procedures, as needed. Occasional distance travel is required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required. College or vocational training is preferred.
  • Three to five years of previous experience in concrete quality control is preferred.
  • Must have a good understanding of construction materials, specifically Ready-Mix concrete.
  • Must be able to interpret test results and communicate findings with supervisors.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions , and decimals.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately. Also have knowledge of Internet software, Excel Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade 1 Certification required.
  • Standard driver's license is required.
