WHAT YOU'LL DO
Acting as the designated Training Officer for the company’s EMS agency, the Training Officer shall oversee that all EMS employee certifications are current, all state required agency requirements are met, and appropriate training is provided to staff to assist in maintaining state EMS licensure. Upholding the Paramedic portion of the job, they must provide Advanced Life Support care to those in need at our facility within the guidelines set forth by the State of West Virginia Office of EMS. They should also be able to operate and maintain ambulances, equipment, skill sets, and certifications.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for :
- Perform daily check offs of equipment and ambulance to ensure they are in working order to respond to emergencies
- Perform triage of a variety of emergency medical treatments as an ALS provider as well as provide continuing care while in route to the hospital
- Follow West Virginia State Office of EMS protocols which include both invasive and non-invasive medical treatments. Skills / Therapies are included but not limited to assessment and evaluation of the ill and injured, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation, administration of medications, applications of dressings and bandages, intubations, immobilizations, and venous or intraosseous access.
- Operate an ambulance in a safe manner driving both emergency and non-emergency both on public roadways and motorsports tracks.
- Work alongside and coordinate patient care with other members of the emergency services team to ensure all work safely together and for the best outcome of the patient.
- Employ safe lifting and moving techniques.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with both clients, coworkers, and over the radio.
- Complete run sheets and other required documentation in their entirety in a clear and through manner
- Act as a mentor / preceptor for new hire EMTs and Paramedics.
- Maintain records of all EMS employees regarding certifications, state required agency requirements, and training.
- Perform medical instruction / demonstration and student evaluations required by course syllabi and Plan of Instruction (POI)
- Complete required paperwork for individual courses taught for billing and filing purposes.
- Serve on the training board for the agency as required by the state office of EMS.
- Work alongside Director of EMS to oversee quality assurance / quality improvement practices
