What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compliance Specialist position at Summit Property Management Group?
Summit Properties seeks a Compliance Specialist that will work as part of our headquarters team to support all properties throughout NY, VT and NH. The Compliance Manager will work closely with the Director of Property Management & Compliance to ensure compliance with all federal/state agencies and programs for affordable housing. The Compliance Manager understands that it all comes down to getting the process right. Candidate will execute special projects across our portfolio of affordable housing properties, as well as oversee and support site staff with the compliance process. Candidate will be organized, ready to problem solve, able to function autonomously while also working in conjunction with our staff located across multiple states.
This position will be full-time, Monday through Friday. Some flexibility on scheduled hours is available if needed.
Location: Hybrid with some travel to sites required
Specific duties and job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring organizational affordable housing compliance across all sites;
- Travels to sites to train, assist and work with site staff for anything related to compliance;
- Overseeing compliance process including new move-ins, recertifications, annual rent increases and various reporting;
- Conduct internal audits and file reviews;
- Conduct internal compliance trainings for out staff;
- Assist with external audit coordination, oversight and response;
- Monitor waitlists, and EIV process for compliance;
- Develops, oversees and updates all internal reporting processes;
Skills and Experience Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to travel throughout our properties in Upstate New York, Vermont and New Hampshire when needed.
- Strong organization skills
- Computer skills are required including proficiency in the Microsoft Suite.
- 2-3 years experience in affordable housing including: HUD, RD, LIHTC, TRACS and EIV is preferred
- Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) qualification or Low Income Housing Tax Credit Designation are preferred
