Thinking for a Change Group Facilitator

Summit Psychological Associates, Inc. currently has an opening for a full-time or part-time group clinician to facilitate our Cognitive groups to clients who have been referred by Federal Probation and Pre-trial Services. The Cognitive groups use the Thinking for a Change curriculum and are 26 weeks in length. Thinking for a Change (T4C) is a group-based intervention program designed to address the criminogenic thinking of offenders. It focuses on developing problem-solving and social skills, teaching appropriate cognitive restructuring techniques, and decreasing criminal thinking through cognitive behavioral changes.

Group leaders must be certified in providing Thinking for a Change curriculum. Preference will be given to applicants who already have a certificate of training in Thinking for a Change, however, some consideration will be given to applicants willing to attend the five day training.

Group leaders will be responsible for completing documentation for clients who attend the group and complete a monthly billing form for each participant. Group leaders will also be expected to have monthly contact with each client's probation officer. The Cognitive group leader would work under the direction of the Federal Coordinator.

Newly hired clinicians are assigned a senior clinician to orient the new staff member to agency procedures and to the electronic medical record. Twelve hours of free continuing education are provided to staff every year. Clinicians meet weekly to learn agency updates, procedure changes and staff cases.

Summit Psychological Associates, Inc. is certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OMHAS) and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its outpatient treatment mental health programs serving adults, children and adolescents, and the criminal justice population.

Full time employment would be considered for applicants who have LSW/LISW, LPC,LPCC and or psychology assistants who have a masters in psychology. These clinicians would be able to provide additional treatment services to clients in our outpatient treatment office in Canton.
