What are the responsibilities and job description for the Brick Mason position at Summit Skilled Solutions?
Summit Skilled Solutions is hiring experienced Brick Masons for Prevailing Wage project in Nelsonville starting asap. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of commercial experience. Must have valid driver's license and transportation along with hand tools and standard PPE.
Brick Mason Qualifications
- 5 years experience working on construction sites as a bricklayer (preferably commercial)
- Familiarity with materials, methods, and tools involved in bricklaying and building construction
- Ability to analyze and solve problems related to bricklaying tasks
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Must be physically fit and able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift heavy objects commonly encountered in bricklaying work
Brick Mason Duties
- Read blueprints or drawings to calculate the required materials for each project
- Mix mortar or grout and spread it onto slabs or foundations
- Lay bricks, blocks, or stones according to the provided plans, ensuring precision and accuracy
- Construct corners using a corner pole or by building a corner pyramid for structural stability
- Ensure the vertical and horizontal alignment of the structure using tools such as a plumb bob and level
- Clean and polish surfaces using hand or power tools to achieve a smooth finish
- Remove excess mortar using trowels and other hand tools to maintain clean and tidy work areas
- Fill expansion joints with the appropriate caulking materials to ensure durability
- Lay out patterns or foundations using a straightedge to guide the placement of bricks, blocks, or stones
- Break or cut bricks, stones, or blocks to the appropriate size for customized installations
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment at all times
Brick Mason Compensation/Benefits
- $50.97/hr
- M-F 40 hours a week
