What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Clerk position at Sumner County Government-Finance Department?
The accounts payable clerk is a vital part of our team who is responsible for processing accurate and timely payments to vendors via checks to include pre-auditing documentation that is provided with payment requests, assuring the accuracy of the uniform chart of accounts posting, verifying available budget amounts, and verifying receipt of goods and services. The payments are processed for approximately thirty-two elected or appointed county department heads, including the Board of Education and the Highway Department.
Skills and qualifications include the following.
- Computer proficiency, including experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), required
- High level of attention to detail required
- Good organization and communication skills required
- Ability to multi-task required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior AP experience preferred
