What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Abuse Counselor position at Sumter Treatment Specialists?
Substance Abuse Counselor needed for an opiate treatment program (OTP) located in Sumter, South Carolina.
Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a human services or behavioral science field, although master's degree preferred.
Will also consider a LPN or RN with a bachelor's degree who wish to do a mix of nursing and counseling.
Experience in substance abuse counseling required.
Certified Addictions Counselors (CAC), Licensed Addiction Counselors (LAC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) is desired or in process of obtaining.
Duties include:
- Management of a caseload of approximately 50 clients.
- Providing substance abuse counseling.
- Developing individual treatment plans.
- Providing crisis interventions, as needed.
- Providing referrals to outside agencies.
- Assisting in community outreach and community education for medication assisted treatment.
Monday thru Friday with rotating Saturday with other counselors.
Full-time (35 hours per week)
