Position Summary

Responsible for the oversight of all clinical treatment programs of patients receiving treatment for psychiatric, and substance abuse issues in both inpatient in outpatient settings. The Director assures that high quality clinical care is provided and that the clinical functions are integrated. Director supervises individual and group counseling and develops and implements a variety of therapeutic treatment modalities/processes. Oversees discharge planning to ensure an optimal post hospital transition. Responsible for ensuring that clinical documentation is current and accurate and meets all regulatory and other standards.

Position Responsibilities

Clinical / Technical Skills (40% of performance review)

  • Demonstrates by verbalizing to preceptor the responsibilities for overall clinical development of all clinical programs and staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to supervise, train and oversee staff development of all clinical staff social workers, licensed professional counselors, chemical dependency counselors, adjunctive therapist, and unlicensed employees
  • Demonstrates ability to oversee and evaluate clinical case consultations being executed by clinical staff to ensure effective service delivery
  • Demonstrates ability to conduct interviews, hire, and train new employees
  • Demonstrates ability to plan and schedule/assign workload assignments on an on-going basis, adjusting programs and project priorities
  • Demonstrates responsibility for positive employee relations approach including performance evaluations, rewarding and addressing performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems with staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze current data and thinking of clinical services to develop programs and clinical functions.
  • Demonstrates ability to engage program development initiatives and evaluation to ensure that programs are effective, efficient and consistent with the organizations mission, values and goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Integrity (15% of performance review)

  • Applies the Mission and Values of SUN Behavioral Health to personal practice and commits to service excellence.
  • Supports and demonstrates fiscal responsibility through supply usage, ordering of supplies, and conservation of facility resources.
  • Completes required trainings within defined time periods, as established by job description, policies, or hospital leadership
  • Exemplifies professionalism through good attendance and positive attitude, at all times.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information, following HIPAA and other privacy laws.
  • Ensures proper documentation in all position activities, following federal and state guidelines.

Education

  • Required: Masters degree in a mental health field from an accredited institution, with valid licensure in State of employment. Licensed as LCSW, LPC, or LMFT. CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification.
  • Maintains education and development appropriate for position.

Experience

  • Required: Five or more years of previous experience in all aspects of social services, with an emphasis in the behavioral health setting. Previous experience performing inpatient healthcare duties, including psychosocial assessments, individual therapy, group therapy, short-term evidence-based counseling in crisis intervention. Knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles. Five or more years of previous supervisory experience, including three years as a Clinical Director.
