Position Summary:
Responsible for the oversight of all substance use treatment programs of patients receiving treatment for psychiatric and substance abuse issues in both inpatient in outpatient settings. The Director assures that high quality clinical care is provided and that the clinical functions are integrated; develops, markets, and implements programs. Director supervises individual and group counseling and develops and implements a variety of therapeutic treatment modalities/processes that address co-occurring mental health and substance used disorders. Responsible for ensuring that clinical documentation is current and accurate and meets all regulatory and other standards.
Position Responsibilities:
Clinical / Technical Skills (40% of performance review)
- Demonstrates by verbalizing to preceptor the responsibilities for overall clinical development of all substance abuse programs and staff.
- Demonstrates ability to supervise, train and oversee staff development of all substance abuse unit staff members staff social workers, licensed professional counselors, chemical dependency counselors, adjunctive therapist, and unlicensed employees
- Demonstrates ability to oversee and evaluate substance abuse/clinical case consultations being executed by clinical staff to ensure effective service delivery
- Demonstrates ability to conduct interviews, hire, and train new employees.
- Demonstrates ability to plan and schedule/assign workload assignments on an on-going basis, adjusting programs and project priorities
- Demonstrates responsibility for positive employee relations approach including performance evaluations, rewarding and addressing performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems with staff.
- Demonstrates ability to analyze current data and thinking of substance abuse programs to develop substance abuse programs and clinical functions.
- Demonstrates ability to engage program development initiatives and evaluation to ensure that the substance abuse programs are effective, efficient and consistent with the organization’s mission, values and goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
- Required: Master’s degree or higher in social work, psychology, public health, or a related field in a mental health field from an accredited institution.
- Valid licensure in State of employment. Licensure as a LCSW, LPC, or LMFT. Additional certification in addiction treatment (e.g., CADC, MAC) is required.
- Maintains education and development appropriate for position.
Experience
- Required: Seven or more years of previous experience in substance treatment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting, particularly with co-occurring disorders and substance use disorders.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). A visionary leader with a deep understanding of substance treatment methodologies, commitment to patient-centered care, development and marketing or programs.
