Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Entry Level Building Maintenance professional to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals looking to start their career in facilities maintenance, where you will gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills in building upkeep and repair. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining the functionality and appearance of our facilities, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for all occupants.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including electrical repairs, plumbing, and general building upkeep.
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track work orders and maintenance schedules.
- Conduct inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and report findings.
- Fabricate and repair components as needed, using tools such as an Ohmmeter for electrical diagnostics.
- Assist in residential painting projects to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the buildings.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols.
Experience
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and electrical principles is preferred.
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance practices is a plus, but not required for entry-level candidates.
- Proficiency in English communication skills to effectively interact with team members and report on maintenance tasks.
- Previous experience or training in building maintenance, construction, or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
Physical and/or environmental requirments
- Must be physically and intellectually capable of operating a personal computer, printer, calculator, telephone and various other standard business equipment.
- Must be able to work in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled area sufficient in size to allow freedom of movement to accomplish tasks. May also be exposed to outdoor elements in an uncontrolled temperature with varied lighting.
- Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances.
- Must be able to work effectively and cheerfully in an environment which may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties.
- Drive a car and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Capable of working extended hours, to include weekends and holidays as necessary.
- Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
- Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities.
- Position involves sitting, standing, and/or movement. Position requires ability to exert minimal force of up to 20 pounds, and occasionally exert up to 30 pounds of force to carry, lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able transport oneself not only around the office, but also around the all facilities.
