What are the responsibilities and job description for the PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST position at Sun Street Centers?
Provide Peer Support to facilitate and implement care coordination and advocacy for options and services to meet an individual’s and family’s comprehensive life skills plan through communication and available resources to promote healthy effective outcomes, for men or women in recovery from substance abuse. Asist clients in completing their recovery plans, educate the community on recovery from alcoholism and addiction; act as a program assistant; Act as advocate and resource for the community. This position is full time, Tuesday - Saturday.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A person in long term recovery from substance addiction or personal experience as a family member or caregiver; and/or 1-2 years working in substance abuse treatment, recovery or prevention services. Candidate must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent degree. Must be willing to share their experience and have a strong dedication to recovery. Candidate must have Peer Support Specialist certificate within the State of California by completing the 80-hour training requirement.
This position works some evening and weekends shifts.
NOTE: Employees will be required to be TB Tested, health screened, fingerprinted and will be subject to clearance by the department of Justice.
