What are the responsibilities and job description for the Terrain Park Groomer position at Sun Valley Resort?
The Terrain Park Groomer completes all nightly operations, from building parks from the ground up to minor maintenance. In addition, you will be responsible for checking in with the day staff to determine your nightly operations and projects, in addition to each park's normal blading and tilling.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Nightly grooming of terrain parks
- Maintenance on all features that day staff could not maintain
- Install new features/rebuilds
- Reporting to day staff any changes or features that need to be tested, worked on, or closed
- Checking fluids before and after each shift
- Shovel snowcat off after each shift
- Checking for any damage (broken grouser, leaks, missing backing plates, etc.)
- Writing up any issues for mechanics
- Assist with moving fan guns for snowmaking
- Assist with trail building and grooming of regular ski trails when needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of grooming and 1 year of terrain park experience
- Be able to problem solve and be self-sufficient on the hill
- Experience working on a team
- Can work in the outdoors and various weather elements (rain, sun, heat, cold, snow, etc.)
- Possess strong verbal communication skills and the ability to hear and respond to instructions, inquires, and information
- Be able to communicate with 2-way radios
- Can face the elements in case of breakdown or emergency
- Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, poking, and reaching
