The Plant Accountant is a financial professional responsible for managing all accounting and financial operations within a manufacturing plant, including budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations, while actively collaborating with plant management to optimize profitability and operational efficiency. This role reports to the Business Unit Controller.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the plant, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Conduct variance analysis to identify areas of cost deviation from budget and provide insights to plant management.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production costs, inventory levels, and operational efficiency.
• Develop and manage the plant's annual budget, including sales forecasts, production costs, and capital expenditures.
• Prepare periodic forecasts to monitor performance against budget and identify potential risks or opportunities.
• Oversee the cost accounting system to accurately track direct materials, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead costs.
• Analyze production costs to identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
• Calculate standard costs and variance analysis
• Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods to ensure optimal inventory levels.
• Conduct physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
• Ensure adherence to company accounting policies and procedures.
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audit processes
• Partner with plant managers to analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making
• Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to improve plant profitability
• Provide financial guidance on capital expenditure projects
